Nothing can prepare you for the overwhelming Christmas lights on display in the canals of Mandurah. Every year as December arrives, the spirit of celebration invades the Peel Region and you are able to smell the holiday season everywhere. Christmas time in the Mandurah canals is a time of celebration and holiday spirit as the canals begin to light up with amazing decorations. Residents decorate their beautiful yards, impressive balconies and huge homes with festive decor and thousands of fairy lights that reflect magically on the otherwise peaceful water.
A slow cruise gave plenty of time to soak up the amazing lights and Christmas atmosphere that permeated from the wonderfully dressed homes. With so much going on it’s difficult to know where to look and you start to feel like you’re in ‘little Las Vegas’.
Families come out to visit the Mandurah Canals as it comes alive with thousands of people who revel in the fantastic array of colours and designs.
The river is full of boats, thousands of multi-coloured lights decorate the water and people sit on their balconies and enjoy the view while delighting their palate with a cold drink. The ambience is just perfect as it adds to the spirit of December.
The houses are amazing and the quality and amount of Christmas lights is astonishing. The Christmas Lights in Mandurah, starting from the 1st of December, are a must see for any visitor or resident to Western Australia.
