Beach and Water Activities

BEACH AND WATER ACTIVITIES IN MANDURAH AND THE PEEL REGION

Situated at the entrance to the Peel Inlet, Mandurah has been a popular holiday destination for Western Australians for generations. Its location on both the Indian Ocean and the sheltered waters of the inlet means that it's an ideal spot for all kinds of exciting aquatic activities, ranging from high adrenaline pursuits such as surfing, jet-skiing and windsurfing to those of a more leisurely nature such as wildlife cruises or simply lazing on the beach.

Choose your adventure from miles of ocean coast and inland waterways.

Beaches

The Peel coast is pristine and uncrowded, so don’t tell too many people! Find beaches with all the mod cons, or search for hidden gems. Our beaches are playgrounds for kids, families, surfers, kite surfers and windsurfers and they’re waiting for you right now.

Swimming Beaches

Spend the day swimming at beautiful beaches like Preston Beach, Silver Sands, Doddi’s and Falcon Bay.

Surf Spots

Find waves at spots like Pyramids, Tims Thicket and Avalon Point.

Action and Water

Flyboarding is unlike anything you’ve done before and just about anyone at 14 years and older can experience the thrill of floating and flying above the water. The estuary is great for jet skiing so bring your own or hire one to experience high speed waterborne thrills.

Canoe and Kayak

Take it easy and cruise under paddle power. There’s the Serpentine and Murray rivers and in winter you can take it up a level and plunge down the rapids in Dwellingup. Or Paddle the Peel Inlet, watch the wildlife and picnic in secluded spots.

Boating and Cruising

Mandurah is a beautiful boating haven. Bring your own boat, hire one for the day or charter a vessel with your own skipper. Houseboat hire lets you live and explore! Book a boat, cruise the scenery, spot dolphins or see the Christmas lights from 1st Dec to mid January.

Fishing and Crabbing

The famously lip-smacking blue manna crabs help make the Peel-Harvey estuary a super popular fishing location. Then there’s the open ocean wrecks and fishing for dhufish, snapper, cod and baldchin groper or cast from beaches and jetties for whiting and herring.
